A JOINT, ECUMENICAL SYNOD

The Blessed Kingdom International Ministries Joint Synod was established on September 5, 2025. According to the BKIM Book of Common Discipline—the new manual for the fellowship—this is a legislative organization or council consisting of the International Presiding Prelate, the First and Second Assistants, the Episcopal Advisor to the Presiding Prelate, and every bishop or apostle (with episcopal character, meaning the faculties or powers to ordain and consecrate) that has been enthroned as independent or autonomous prelates through receiving their credentials in the fellowship.

The BKIM Joint Synod serves as a continued measure of accountability toward those gaining independent and autonomous bishoprics from the International Presiding Prelate and their BKIM Presidium, with powers similar to the BKIM College of Bishops and Apostles, yet amongst themselves so as to keep their administrations and ethos separate from the mother synod in our fellowship.

Each independent or autonomous prelate within the BKIM Joint Synod maintain their fraternal, affiliative standing with Blessed Kingdom International Ministries Fellowship of Covenant Churches; and this is with the understanding that the autocephalous (independent) prelates and their churches are not governed by anyone but themselves, yet maintaining a nominal affiliation for the sake of fellowship and accountability with who entrusted them as leaders. For the autonomous prelates, however, they are still nonetheless governed by the main fellowship. Though the autonomous prelates and their churches have administrative privileges that are not given to ordinaries or provincial bishops, they are still completely accountable and subject to disciplinary action and all other things appertaining to BKIM Fellowship of Covenant Churches.

This is because while they (the autonomous churches) are free to govern themselves and devise their own manuals or constitutions, their documents may not usurp or seek to overthrow their higher authority which is this BKIM Book of Common Discipline. Additionally, all autonomous prelatures must have their leaders either appointed by the Presidium of BKIM Fellowship of Covenant Churches; or they must have their desired leaders confirmed by the same.

Autonomous prelatures may be given complete independence after 5-10 years of stable growth and administration, at the discretion solely of the Presidium; these may be overridden, however, by the International Presiding Prelate at their sole discretion.
